Really Really Free Market and community potluck scheduled for Sunday

BUCKHANNON — On Sunday, November 17th starting at 2 p.m. community members will gather for our seasonal really really free market and community potluck at the corner of Walnut and Chestnut Street, behind Alpha Sigma Phi.

Brushstrokes Ministries is supporting our get together through use of their parking and bathroom facilities.

All are welcome! This is free to attend.

What is really really free market?

This is a time to get to know our fellow community members and offer support to each other. Feel free to show up and give on Sunday, November 17th from 2-5pm. Sometimes people, businesses, and organizations prefer to offer services, like bike repairs, notary services, resume help, or face painting.

Some people prefer to give items like clean clothes, blankets, or hygiene items. Feel free to offer a service or items. Please bring a table, chair, blanket, or whatever you’ll need for setting up your gift giving area.

You can participate even if you cannot stay the whole time, but please help clean up before you leave and take all items of yours with you that were not gifted to someone. Don’t feel like you have anything to give? We all have something to share. A conversation, meeting and connecting with someone in our community, is a gift.

What is a community potluck?

Another name for a potluck is a covered dish meal. Our potluck will start near the beginning of our gathering on Sunday around 2pm, or shortly thereafter. Bring food with a serving utensil for serving your dish OR bring a non-alcoholic beverage to share. Plates, cups, napkins, and utensils for eating are being provided by local meal program Free Meals Appalachia.

First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon is providing tables for us to set out the food and drinks and a few tables for people to sit at when enjoying the meal together. Please bring your own table(s) and chair(s) if you have them to help expand the potluck seating area, and then take them home when you leave.

For more information, contact Abigail Wiernik at 304-460-5828. To volunteer to help set up or clean up as a way of giving on the day, contact heather schneider at addieontheroadsweethome@gmail.com.
