Pennsylvania woman dies following fatal Route 33 wreck Monday

BUCKHANNON – A Pennsylvania woman passed away from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle wreck Monday night near the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and the WBUC Road.

Blanch Grannis, 84, of Newcastle, Pa., was life-flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following the wreck that happened just before 10 p.m. Monday. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to investigating officer Sgt. Tom Posey with the Buckhannon Police Department.

Posey said the wreck occurred at 9:47 p.m. July 19 when Grannis, who was driving a 2011 Chevy Cruz, pulled out from the WBUC Road onto Route 33 in front of Subaru Forester that was traveling eastbound toward Elkins. The Forester, driven by Haley McGill, 26, of Elkins, struck Grannis’s vehicle and the two vehicles collided in a T-bone fashion.

McGill and a passenger suffered minor injuries but were not transported to the hospital, Posey said. McGill had the right-of-way, and no citations were issued.
