Parish House in need of canned yams, corn and frosting; Christmas food box distribution gets underway Dec. 13

BUCKHANNON – If you’re shopping at the supermarket for holiday baking purposes, you can lend a helping hand to neighbors in need by picking up a couple extra festive food items.

The Upshur Parish House still needs canned yams, corn and tubs of frosting ahead of its Christmas food box distribution set to being this Saturday, Dec. 11.

Christmas food distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 11 and continue weekdays Dec. 13-17 and Dec. 20-21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you plan to receive a basket on Dec. 11 (this Saturday), please drive down College Avenue and go behind the Parish House to begin the process (look for signs). If you plan to receive a basket the following week, Dec. 13-17 or 20-21, please come to the front door of the Parish House upon arrival.

Please wear a facial covering. As a reminder, the Parish House serves Upshur County residents only.

The Parish House, located at the corner of College Avenue and Sedgwick St. (68 College Avenue), will be closed in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays from Dec. 23, 2021, through Jan. 2, 2022. Doors will reopen Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
