BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – In efforts to fight against the ongoing drug overdose epidemic that West Virginia faces, many substance-use recovery centers have opened across the state. Here in Buckhannon, One Unique Recovery (OUR) House has been opening doors for female recovering addicts since 2009. They operate at 34 Hart Avenue as a not-for-profit 501c3 company and rely solely on donations from the community. In February 2022, OUR House became a certified program through the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences.

The West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences (WVARR) provides certification to recovery programs throughout the state of West Virginia after completion of an in-depth application process, as well as a home inspection of the rehabilitation program’s facilities. After completing this process, OUR House received certification, earning them placement on a statewide directory allowing those seeking help to access the information and find a program that best fits their needs.

President of OUR House, Linda Mealey says, “We are very excited to have received this certification from WVARR! Being a certified recovery residence lets our community know that we meet the national standards of NARR. By upholding these standards, we guarantee a safe environment for female recovering addicts to become sober, self-sufficient members of the community.”
