Special Session of City Council – 9:00 am – 11:00 am – This Special Session of City Council has been called to interview candidates for the possible hire of Probationary Police Officer(s). The interviews will take place during an Executive Session Per WV Code § 6-9A-4, which is closed to the public. After the Executive Session, hiring a Probationary Police Officer(s) could take place in an open session. There is no virtual option for this meeting.

Notice of the City Council meeting scheduled for July – The City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 7:00 PM (July’s meetings will be merged due to the 4th of July holiday).

Buckhannon 4th of July Fireworks Celebration – The City of Buckhannon’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration will be part of Create Buckhannon’s Festival Fridays (featuring the popular band Stonestreet) on Friday, July 05, 2024.  This year, the fireworks spectacular is sponsored by Citizens Bank of WV, Buckhannon Toyota, Mike Ross & Ike Morris, Par Mar-The Donut Spot, and Potesta & Associates, Inc.  The City of Buckhannon thanks these wonderful sponsors.

Colonial Arts Center Presents – The Colonial Arts Center will welcome the Rustic Mechanicals in their 11th season for their Thundering Hearts Tour, as they bring William Shakespeare’s The Tempest to the CAC on July 12. The Mechanicals have performed at the Colonial Arts Center, most notably last summer’s production of The Comedy of Errors. Founded by Celi Oliveto in the summer of 2014, The Rustic Mechanicals is the only troupe of actors in the state dedicated to touring the works of William Shakespeare and other classical playwrights.  All tickets are $17.50 and can be purchased at www.colonialartscenter.org. Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method, you may still want to set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption.  To sign up for this service, you will need to complete the online registration, which includes knowing your Utility Board Account Number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, you must log in with the proper email and password.

Reporting a Necessary Repair or Registering a Concern with the City – To report a necessary repair, such as potholes, damaged street signs, an issue in a city park, etc., or any other matter that a city department should attend to, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request. This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
