IRVING, TEXAS –The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) does not have a state association in West Virginia, but they now have a state representative and advisor, giving a voice to one of their most important national committees.

Shea Phillips, General Manager of Number One Auto Sales in Buckhannon, West Virginia, has been selected to serve on the NIADA’s Budget & Finance Committee.

According to the NIADA’s website, the Finance Committee “shall counsel with the CEO on the annual budget of each entity, provide insight and commentary, prepare recommendations, recommend the investment of surplus funds, and review the annual auditor review of the accounts for each board.”

Chairman of the Budget & Finance Committee Dan Johnson, who is also a Board of Director member for NIADA and the 2023 NIADA Quality Dealer of the Year, welcomed Shea.

“The strength of every association comes from member involvement,” Johnson said. “Shea not only brings a wealth of personal and business experience to the committee, he represents an area in West Virginia that needs a voice inside NIADA. His involvement will help our association and our industry. I look forward to serving with him.”

“I was honored to be invited to be on this committee by Dan Johnson, the National Quality Dealer of the Year,” Phillips remarked. “I am anxious to dive in and learn as much as I can to help our association succeed and prosper for our amazing group of dealers. A big thank you to Dan and to NIADA CEO Jeff Martin for this honor to serve.”

After graduating from Marshall University with a Bachelor in Business Administration, Shea moved back to his hometown of Buckhannon to join his father’s dealership. He has been in the auto industry for nearly 18 years and has been a national member of NIADA for the last five years.

Sid Phillips, Shea’s father, was the 2019 recipient of the National Pioneer of the Year Award for NIADA. The Phillips family has operated Number One Auto Sales in Buckhannon for nearly 30 years, bringing great value to help people in West Virginia.
