The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 228 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State. That’s the smallest daily increase since late October 2020.
Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (3), Barbour (2), Randolph (9) and Webster (1) counties.
A total of 126 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.
Four additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 78-year old male from Berkeley County, a 64-year old male from Webster County, a 76-year old female from Raleigh County, and a 77-year old male from Kanawha County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of February 16, 2021, there have been 2,072,362 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 128,117 total cases and 2,216 total deaths,” according to a press release.
About 10,969 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 114,932 people have recovered and 2,216 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.18%.
A total of 144,250 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
