Mountain State reports 1,131 new COVID-19 cases Monday morning

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 1,131 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (6), Barbour (13), Lewis (5), Randolph (13) and Webster (8) counties.

A total of 105 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR. Monday’s update:

Added one confirmed case to Dec. 4
Removed three probable cases from Dec. 5
Added five probable and three confirmed cases to Dec. 6

Three additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 91-year old female from Roane County, an 89-year old male from Kanawha County, and an 87-year old female from Kanawha County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of December 7, 2020, there have been 1,226,697 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 56,128 total cases and 841 deaths,” according to a press release.

About 19,691 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 35,596 people have recovered and 841 have died. The daily percent positive was 7.24%.
