Lewis County woman one of two COVID-19 deaths reported Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 301 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (6), Barbour (3), Lewis (8), Randolph (4) and Webster (1) counties.

A total of 131 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 84-year old female from Lewis County and a 53-year old male from Ohio County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of February 15, 2021, there have been 2,065,565 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 127,889 total cases and 2,212 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 11,683 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 113,994 people have recovered and 2,212 have died. The daily percent positive was 5.19%.

A total of 140,540 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
