ELKINS – Cameron Zuliani had a pair of bookend goals for the Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Lady Bucs in a 4-0 home victory over the Elkins Tigers in their regular-season finale Tuesday evening in a Big 10 Conference clash.

Zuliani had the first goal of the game in the 13th minute and put the icing on the cake with a goal in the final minute of the contest.

Both goals were unassisted as the first one she dribbled into the box and scored from five yards out, and the last one was scored from the top of the box.

In between the Zuliani goals were a score by Catherine Oliveto in the 22nd minute with the assist going to Ava Hollen. Oliveto played a pass from Hollen and scored on a deflection off Elkins keeper Sydney Wamsley.

That gave the Lady Bucs a 2-0 lead which was the score at the intermission.

The other goal belonged to Harley Dean in the 72nd minute who played a ball from Oliveto and scored from about 26 yards out.

Freshman Hannah Boyles, who played a big part in the shutout win from her holding/defending center midfield position, said, “It feels good to beat Elkins and get a win in our final regular season game. We started off really well and then finished strong. It was a physical game but we worked hard to get the win.”

The Lady Bucs owned a 12-4 margin in shots-in-goal and a 7-5 lead in corner kicks. B-U keeper Kyndal Davis saved all four shots that came her way in the shutout win while Wamsley made eight stops.

The win left the Lady Bucs with a 12-5-2 record overall and a 10-2 mark in the Big 10 Conference.

The Lady Bucs will now have a week off as they prepare for their sectional tournament which will begin on Tuesday.

The Lady Bucs will play at University at 6 p.m. in the sectional opener.

“It will be nice to have some down time to get healthy,” concluded Boyles. “I know I am going to be really sore tomorrow after this one.”
