Lady Bucs lead West to 8-7 win in WVSLA All-Star Game

FAIRMONT – The six Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse players selected for the 2022 WVSLA All-Star game certainly made their presence known in the contest Saturday at East-West Stadium.

The West All-Stars, which is the squad the Buckhannon-Upshur players were on, was also led by the Buckhannon-Upshur coaching staff of head coach Jamie Greene and assistant coach Dave Lewellyn.

The West won a close game by 8-7 with B-U’s Miranda Greene tallying three goals including the game-winner with under a minute remaining.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Hannan Walton scored two goals while Kendall Defibaugh had one.

George Washington’s Noelle Fuller and St. Albans’ Carlee Truman had the other two goals for the West.

B-U’s Kaylee Black led the defense with five ground balls while Lady Buc Mashae Bowser and Greene each had three.

“Our girls played very well,” remarked Jamie Greene. “We went down early but kept playing together and had the lead at 5-4 at the half. The East All-Stars came back and tied the game at 7-7 but with under a minute to go, we got the ball to Miranda and she put in the game-winning shot. It was a great win for the West All-Stars.”

Representing Buckhannon-Upshur on the the West All-Stars were Miranda Greene, Hannah Walton, Gaidan Adams, Mashae Bower, Kendall Defibaugh and Kaylee Black.
