Lacrosse Lady ‘Cats blow out Ursuline, 26-4

PEPPER PIKE (Ohio) — The West Virginia Wesleyan College lacrosse team buried 26 goals on 42 shots and kept home team Ursuline College to just four first half goals to pick up its third win of the year, Tuesday in Ohio.

Before Ursuline could get its defensive legs flexed, the Lady Bobcats had three balls in the back of the net in the first 90 seconds, one each by Makenzi Lewellyn, Talia Berardo (the current MEC Offensive Player of the Week), and Raveena Navalgund. Erin Mobley added a fourth goal two minutes later before Ursuline found the net for the first time (Grace Darone, 10:14).

By halftime, Ursuline scored all of the goals it would score but the Lady Bobcats continued to pour it on. The first 30 minutes saw the Lady Bobcats score 17 goals and then an additional nine in the second half.

Top scorers for the Lady Bobcats were Mobley with an efficient nine goals on nine shots, Berardo with eight goals on 11 shots, Lewellyn with two goals and three assists on four shots, and two goals each from Navalgund, Kaitlyn Canby, and Anna Grace Prophett. Molly Knackstedt added a goal early in the fourth.

Wesleyan hosts Westminster College at Cebe Ross Field on Saturday, Mar. 23 at 1 p.m.
