Lacrosse Lady Bucs stay perfect on year

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team had a busy three-day stretch last weekend with four home games scheduled.

The Lady Bucs only played three of those games, dominating all three, and won the fourth game by forfeit to stay perfect on the year.

Last Thursday, the Lady Bucs downed George Washington in a state tournament rematch from last year by a 16-1 score.

They followed that up on Friday with a convincing 19-1 victory over St. Albans and then dominated John Marshall on Saturday by a 20-0 score. They were slated to play Capital as well on Saturday but they earned a forfeit win over the Cougars.

The action left Buckhannon-Upshur with an 8-0 mark.

In their win over George Washington, B-U raced out to a 7-0 lead at the half and won the second half by a 9-1 score for their 15-goal win.

Miranda Greene led the Lady Bucs in scoring with eight goals while Kierra Arbogast collected four, Kendall Defibaugh three and Hannah Walton two.

Arbogast and Greene led the team in ground balls with six each.

Haylea Crichfield made eight saves in the net for Buckhannon-Upshur.

B-U had little trouble with St. Albans on Friday taking a 13-1 lead at the break before putting them away for their 19-1 victory.

Greene headed up the team in scoring with six goals while Defibaugh had five, Walton and Arbogast three each and Kendall Hefner and Kaylee O’Connor one each.

Walton had five ground balls to lead the team while Greene and Kaylee Black each had four.
