JV Lady Bucs overcome slow start to down Eagles, 42-30

TENNERTON – Following a slow start in the first quarter to their home contest against the Robert C. Byrd Eagles Saturday afternoon, the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs dominated the rest of the outing en route to a 42-30 victory.

The JV Lady Bucs trailed by an 8-4 margin after one quarter getting all four points from Olivia Shipley.

B-U won the second quarter by an 11-7 margin with Casadie Lahman and Shipley each putting on four points and Brooklyn Smith three as they tied the game at 15-15 at the break.

The JV Lady Bucs controlled the third quarter winning it by a 17-8 margin.

Smith fired in three treys for nine points while Lahman had four points and Rosie Shackleford and Shipley two each.

That gave the JV Lady Bucs a 32-23 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Buckhannon-Upshur won the final quarter by a 10-7 score with Lahman putting in four points and Smith, Shipley and Shackleford two each.

Smith led the JV Lady Bucs with 14 points while Lahman and Shipley tallied 12 each.

Cameron Ware paced the Eagles with eight points.

The win was the third in a row for the JV Lady Bucs as they improved to 3-6 on the year.

They will be back in action Thursday hosting Philip Barbour at 5:45 p.m.
