JV Lady Bucs fall to Grafton, 33-17

GRAFTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs again had trouble getting their offense going in a 33-17 road setback to the Grafton Bearcats Tuesday evening.

B-U managed just six field goals in the game.

The game was close in the first quarter as the Lady Bucs trailed by just one, at 9-8, with Mackenzie Egress scoring four points and Martina Moto and Gracie Gerwig scoring two each.

A free throw from Kylie Hull and Egress was the only scoring for Buckhannon-Upshur in the second quarter that went to Grafton by a 9-2 score.

That left the Lady Bucs down by an 18-10 margin.

B-U managed just two free throws from Egress and one from Hull in the third quarter which the Bearcats claimed by a 6-3 count.

That left B-U down by a 24-13 score heading into the final frame.

Egress and Hull each put a basket for Buckhannon-Upshur in the last quarter that went to Grafton by a 9-4 score.

Regan Knight and Ruth Horne led Grafton with six points each.

Egress led all scorers with nine points.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 0-6 on the season.

They will be back in action next Tuesday visiting Fairmont Senior for a 5:45 p.m. clash.
