JV Lady Bucs can’t overcome scoreless second quarter in 42-18 loss to Preston

KINGWOOD – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs couldn’t overcome a scoreless second quarter on the road against the Preston Knights Thursday evening.

The Lady Bucs were down by just a 13-8 score after one quarter but were held scoreless in the second quarter and went onto drop a 42-18 decision.

In the first quarter, Makenzie Egress put in four points while Avi Travise and Taylor Feather each scored two as the Lady Bucs trailed by five after the first eight minutes.

Preston outscored B-U in the second quarter by a 12-0 margin and led the Lady Bucs by a 25-8 score at the break.

The Lady Bucs managed just four points in the third quarter, all from Travise and trailed by a 33-12 margin heading into the last frame.

B-U was outscored by a 9-6 count in the fourth quarter with Kylie Hull, Travise and Egress putting in two points each.

Preston was led by Camdyn Metheny and her 12 points.

Travise paced the B-U offense with eight points.

The Lady Bucs (0-2) will be back in action Saturday afternoon hosting Mussleman at 1 p.m.
