JV Bucs drop 52-31 road verdict to Lewis County

WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers simply weren’t able to keep up with the Lewis County Minutemen in a 52-31 loss Monday evening.

Things went okay for the Bucs in the first quarter as they trailed by just two, at 11-9, after Kadyn Baisden put in four points, Brody McDaniels three and Kaiden Marks two.

The B-U offense trailed off in the second quarter with just six points, on a trey from Jacob Fyre, a basket from Jimmie Green and a free throw from Seth Allen.

That put the Bucs down by a 31-15 count at the half.

B-U won the third quarter by a 10-8 margin behind four points from Damion White, three from Baisden, two from McDaniels and one from Allen as they pulled to within 14 of Lewis County heading into the final eight minutes, at 39-25.

Buckhannon-Upshur dropped the final quarter by a 13-6 margin with White scoring five and Colton Warner one.

White led the B-U offense with nine points.

Lukas Moodispaw paced Lewis County with 15 points.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 1-2 on the year heading into Wednesday’s home outing with Lincoln.

The game will start at 5:45 p.m.
