JV Bucs down Lincoln in home contest, 52-42

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers used a huge fourth quarter to pull away from the visiting Lincoln Cougars for a 52-42 victory Wednesday evening in a home contest.

The Bucs trailed by one heading into the final quarter by a 35-34 score but outscored the Cougars by an 18-7 margin for the win.

The victory gave the Bucs a 2-2 record.

In the first quarter, Brody McDaniels and Jacob Frye each had five points and Damion White added two points, but the canto went to Lincoln by a 14-12 score.

The Bucs nearly doubled up Lincoln by an 11-6 margin in the second quarter with McDaniels pouring in seven points while White and Jimmie Green each put in a basket as they led at the half by a 23-20 score.

Frye tallied five points and White, Seth Allen and Colton Warner scored two each for the Bucs in the third quarter which went to Lincoln by a 15-11 margin.

That put the Bucs down 35-34 heading into the final eight minutes.

The Bucs rallied in the final quarter with White scoring six points, Allen five, Frye and McDaniels three each and Kadyn Baisden one.

McDaniels led the B-U offense with 15 points while Frye added 13 and White 12.

Lincoln was led by Max Myers with 15 points.

The Bucs will be off until Jan. 5 when they visit North Marion for a 5:45 p.m. contest.
