Joshua Franklin “Josh” Simmons

Joshua Franklin “Josh” Simmons, 27, of the Frenchton community, died on Monday, August 31, 2020.

He was born on April 21, 1993, in Buckhannon, a son of Kevin L. and Lisa Ware Simmons who both survive.

He is also survived by his fiancée, Brianna Collins of Frenchton; one son Braxton Tyler Simmons; paternal grandmother Betty Simmons of Bendertown; maternal nana Sandra Lockwood of Flatwoods; aunts and uncles: Cindy Ware, Kris Ware, Diane Bender, Jeff Tenney, Roberta Sears, and Patty Cowger; several cousins; and special friends: Tim Haddix, Deanna Moore, Devin Parsons, Jeremy Johnson, and Tyler Hanline.

He was preceded in death by his brother Tyler G. “Ty” Simmons, maternal grandparents Raymond and Sally Ware, paternal grandfather Richard Simmons, and uncle Steve Ware.

Josh was a 2011 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. He loved the outdoors, where you could usually find him near a stream fishing or in the woods hunting, especially during turkey season — his favorite.

Josh never met a stranger and was an instant friend to everyone that met him. He loved his family and especially his son Braxton who was the light of his life.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2020, from 4-6 p.m. at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. A graveside service and interment will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 1 p.m., at the Beechtown Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Cosner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to, or made in person at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Online condolences may be extended to the Simmons family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Simmons family entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.
