ICYMI: WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital to host open house, demo of da Vinci Robotic XI Surgical System tonight, Aug. 8

BUCKHANNON — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital will hold an open house and demonstration of the da Vinci Robotic XI Surgical System tonight, Tuesday, August 8, at 6 p.m.

The system is the most advanced surgical system available. Its addition to St. Joseph’s Hospital’s surgical department makes the hospital only the second Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in the state able to offer this capability to its patients.

The system provides patients minimally-invasive surgery with a number of benefits including smaller incisions, shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery times. Procedures are performed with tiny instruments that move like a human hand but with a greater range of motion. A 3-D high-definition camera magnifies the surgical area to ten times what the human eye can see, giving the surgeon a crystal-clear view.

The open house and demonstration will be held in the main lobby of St. Joseph’s Hospital. It is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. RSVP to 304-473-2057.
