A new pediatrics office opened in Buckhannon to kick off the new year.
Goldilocks Pediatrics officially opened Jan. 5 and invited the community to its new office for a Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting last week. The new office is located at 1 Bobcat Lane, near Wesleyan’s performing arts center. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon.
Dr. Jessica Mongold, the owner of Goldilocks Pediatrics, said she completed her Master of Science in Nursing as well as her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at West Virginia Wesleyan College, and she loves working in Buckhannon.
“I love Buckhannon; I’ve worked in Buckhannon for five years, and when the opportunity presented itself, I knew I wanted to stay here and treat the patients that I’ve had for five years and keep seeing them grow up,” Mongold said. “It is nice to watch these kids grow up.”
She wants her practice to provide a unique experience for each patient.
“Our slogan is providing care that’s just right for every child, so providing care that’s individualized, catered and tailored to every patient, knowing that can be different for different families,” Mongold said. “I’m the sole practitioner. I have a medical assistant, an LPN, and then I have my office manager.”
She was inspired to open her own practice after working in other pediatric fields previously.
“I worked in the pediatric ICU when I was a nurse and was cross-trained to the neonatal ICU,” Mongold said. “Right out of school, I started doing pediatrics, so I got that patient base established, and I love it.”
Her practice will serve as a primary care provider, offer well-child checkups, sports physicals, and immunizations, and provide a place to go when a child is really sick.
