Glenville State College Golf Teams Receive Generous Donation

GLENVILLE, WV – Glenville State College’s golf teams will be traveling in style for the 2021 Mountain East Conference golf season.

Thanks to the generous gift from donor I.L. “Ike” Morris, the teams will be driving in a pair of state-of-the-art club vans. The presentation of the new vehicles took place in early September at Morris’ Waco Oil & Gas Office Complex. There is one new logo-draped van for each golf program.

Glenville’s men’s team has won 12 league championships in their decorated history. They are now coaches by John Lilly, an alumnus of the program and a member of several title teams in the mid-70’s. The women’s program was resurrected in 2019, and is coached by Mike McGarry. Coach Bill Lilly serves as an assistant to the programs in the role of Director of Golf Operations.

“We sincerely thank Mr. Morris for his gift to the golf program, and his continued support of the institution,” Athletic Director Jesse Skiles said. “We are very excited about the overall commitment to our golf programs, from both the school and also the community.”
