Game of the Week: Soccer Bucs end regular season with a 2-0 win over Elkins

ELKINS – The Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Bucs wrapped up their regular season in fine fashion with a 2-0 road victory over Elkins in a Big 10 Conference clash despite being down three starters Tuesday night.

The Bucs had a goal in each half.

Zack Loudin had the first-half goal for the Bucs in the 18th minute playing a pass from Christian Dowell and scoring with a shot to the upper part of the goal to the near post.

Tim Snyder gave the Bucs a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 58th minute when he played a rebound with a shot to the far post past Elkins keeper Bobby Valentine.

“I was extremely proud of how our guys overcame being down three starters,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Mike Donato. “We counted on guys to step in playing positions and extended minutes and they were up for the challenge. Our defenders played great, Dalton Avuil made some key saves, and I was very happy for Zack getting his first varsity goal. The important thing for us now is to get healthy and prepare for sectionals.”

Auvil made eight saves for the Bucs while Valentine stopped seven shots for Elkins.
