Fred W. Wendling

Fred W. Wendling, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his home.

He was born January 28, 1937, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Albert Franklin and Hattamena Norman Wendling.

On January 5, 1976, he married Karen Johnston who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Steven B. Wendling and wife Deneen of TN, Albert F. Wendling and Christopher A Wendling and wife Charity all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Sheila Sullivan and husband Boddy of TN; four grandsons, Matthew Krysz of NJ, Steven and William Wendling both of TN and Colton Wendling of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Bridjet Krysz of TN, and Caitlyn, Christina and Charlee Wendling all of Buckhannon; two great grandsons, Wesley and Cooper Krysz both of TN; two brothers, John Wendling and wife Linda and Herbert Wendling all of Charleston; one sister, Margie West of OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Fred William Wendling, Jr. and three sisters, Mae Young, Gay Thrush and Mary Hill.  

Mr. Wendling served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the 2nd Generation owner of A.F. Wendling’s Food Service for over 40 years and a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church.

Friends will be received Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4 to 8 PM at the South Buckhannon Mission Church. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the church with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewis-Upshur Humane Society 318 Mud Lick Rd Buckhannon, WV 26201.
