Fred Eberle Practical Nursing program deadline approaching, Aug. 15

BUCKHANNON – Time is ticking. The applications deadline for the Fred W. Eberle Technical Center Practical Nursing program is approaching quickly; Monday, August 15.

As part of the curriculum, students will receive appropriate field experience of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in a hospital or similar healthcare facility. Local healthcare facilities include – but are not limited to – St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, and Crestview Manor in Jane Lew. Students in clinical rotations will need their own form of transportation.

“There are numerous local and statewide opportunities for new nurses,” said Ryan Hines, Fred Eberle Practical Nursing Program Coordinator. “We look forward to meeting applicants that want to get into nursing.”

This program is open to post-secondary students only. Prospective high school students interested in life as an LPN are encouraged to participate in anatomy, chemistry, physiology, and basic math courses in preparation for their future studies at Fred Eberle.

Prospective students must meet the following requirements to apply:

Graduates of the Practical Nursing program will receive a diploma and a graduate nurse pin, with eligibility to take the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses licensure exam (NCLEX-PN).

This course will commence in January 2023 and be in full swing until December. The open enrollment period for the class of 2023 concludes Monday, August 15. Nursing classes are held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and clinicals will be held 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The tuition and fees for this course are approximately $6,100, as this cost is subject to change. Free tuition and financial aid is available to qualified students.
