Fairmont State University participates in College Application Week

College for West Virginia, an online resource for high school students across the state, has designated November 1 – 5 as College Application Week. Hosted annually, the campaign seeks to increase the Higher Education Policy Commission’s efforts to grow the number of students choosing to pursue postsecondary education.

“This is a statewide effort encouraging students of all ages to consider their college options and to promote college-going as a real possibility,” said Fairmont State University Assistant Director of Recruitment, Summer Boggess.

Throughout the week, Fairmont State admissions counselors will be visiting various high schools across West Virginia to answer commonly asked questions and help explain the application process. In addition, the University will be hosting on-campus Fall Exploration Days on Wednesday, November 3 and Thursday, November 4. Exploration Days provide the opportunity for Future Falcons to explore majors, meet new friends and discover Fairmont State’s beautiful campus. Registration is currently live at www.fairmontstate.edu/explorationdays

“As many of us can attest, a college degree will completely transform the arc of your life,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “And that arc bends toward fulfillment, happiness, and meaning. Fairmont State prides itself on providing transformative educational experiences to all who seek them. We’re excited about the potential for the College for West Virginia program to enthuse and excite more and more West Virginians to pursue college degrees, and we look forward to seeing prospects and their families on our cozy hilltop campus this week, as they discover just how great Falcon life is.”

Fairmont State has established itself as an educational destination of choice through a demonstrated commitment to student success. Earlier this fall, the University announced that students interested in attending the institution between now and the fall 2022 term  are eligible to  apply for admission without submitting an ACT or SAT score. In addition, Fairmont State students enjoy the opportunities offered by a comprehensive state university combined with the personal attention and campus atmosphere students would expect from a small, private school.

“We are small enough that you won’t be a number; we are going to know you by name,” said Vice President for Student Success, Ken Fettig. “But we’re also big enough to have a number of unique and distinctive programs in our region.”

A comprehensive list of the University’s renowned academic offerings can be found at www.fairmontstate.edu/academic-programs-listing.
