Fairmont State University general scholarship deadline approaching

Both current and incoming Fairmont State students are encouraged to complete the University’s General Scholarship application prior to the March 1 deadline. Applications submitted will determine eligibility for funding for the 2022 – 2023 academic year, awarded through the Fairmont State Office of Financial Aid and academic departments.

“More and more, Fairmont State University has become the top choice for students wanting to transform their lives with an affordable education,” said Mirta M. Martin, Fairmont State University President. “We take great pride in providing a quality, affordable education to all who seek one. We offer one of the lowest tuition rates in the state as well as academic programs you simply cannot find anywhere else. I urge all college-seeking students to apply for scholarships as soon as possible. A scholarship makes college even more affordable, our value even more remarkable and your dreams even closer.”

For a comprehensive list of scholarships and their requirements, visit www.fairmontstate.edu/scholarships. All scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Fairmont State University will award scholarships for the 2022 – 2023 academic year until funds have been exhausted. The General Scholarship Application is available at www.fairmontstate.edu/scholarshipapp2223 through March 1.

“Fairmont State University is pleased to offer institutional scholarships based on the student’s admission status as well as Foundation scholarships due to the generosity of our donors to assist students with their educational costs,” said Tresa Weimer, Fairmont State University Assistant Vice President for Student Success. “Let us help you in making your dream of a higher education become a reality.”

All students completing scholarship applications are encouraged to have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Fairmont State. Many of the institutional and Foundation scholarships require the FAFSA, increasing potential scholarship dollars for those with a FAFSA on file. Completing the FAFSA will also enable financial aid counselors to determine a student’s total award package, including but not limited to grants, scholarships, work opportunities and loans.

Contact the Office of Financial Aid at (304) 367 – 4141 or FinancialAid@fairmontstate.edu for more information.
