The West Virginia University Health System today (May 2) announced the appointment of Christopher Goode, M.D., as its executive vice president and chief clinical integration officer.
In this new leadership role, Dr. Goode will oversee System-wide initiatives to strengthen care coordination, expand patient access, and enhance service across WVU Medicine’s continuum of care. He will continue to serve as chair of the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine.
Reporting to the chief administrative officer (CAO), Goode will be responsible for designing and leading clinical integration efforts that align with WVU Medicine’s 2035 Strategic Plan. His work will include developing a centralized ambulatory access infrastructure, building clinical care coordination programs, and fostering collaboration across the System’s hospitals, clinics, and physician practices.
“Dr. Goode brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, leadership, and innovation to this critical position,” Carrie Willetts, CAO of the WVU Health System, said. “He will play a central role in helping us create a more unified and exceptional experience for the communities we serve.”
Goode is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and a widely respected leader at WVU Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Marshall University and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at WVU. He has served as chair of Emergency Medicine since 2019, helping to expand services and advance the Department’s clinical and academic missions.
“Clinical integration is about creating a system where patients experience seamless, coordinated care across every touchpoint,” Goode said. “I am honored to take on this role and look forward to working with our teams to shape a more accessible, patient-centered future for WVU Medicine.”
A native West Virginian, Goode lives in Bridgeport with wife and children. Before attending medical school, he served as an EMT.
