DHHR: No reported active COVID-19 cases in Upshur County as of Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 321 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 37 since the last report. 

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (0), Barbour (1), Lewis (3), Randolph (3) and Webster (0) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of two active cases over the weekend.

Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 73-year old female from Wood County and an 86-year old female from Ohio County. 

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 11, 2022, there are currently 321 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been 2 deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 6,755 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 116 residents are hospitalized with the virus (55% unvaccinated, 45% vaccinated), with 33 currently in intensive care (64% unvaccinated, 36% vaccinated) and 16 on a ventilator (50% unvaccinated, 50% vaccinated). The daily percent positive was 2.67%. 

A total of 970,730 people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, the DHHR said.  That’s about 54% of the state. Of those, 440,657 are fully vaccinated and have received their booster dose.
