DHHR: More than 200 COVID-19 cases now active in Randolph County

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 5,341 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 158 since the last report.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (32), Barbour (18), Lewis (49), Randolph (213) and Webster (18) counties.

Seven additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 60-year old female from Cabell County, a 74-year old male from Wood County, a 57-year old female from Kanawha County, a 70-year old male from Fayette County, an 88-year old male from Morgan County, a 72-year old female from Nicholas County, and a 61-year old female from Lincoln County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of May 25, 2021, there have been 2,889,332 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 160,587 total cases and 2,782 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 5.79%.

A total of 722,836 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.  That’s about 40% of the state.
