COVID-19 visitor policy announced at Mon Health SJMH

WESTON — Keeping patients and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic has been the mission of Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Weston, from the beginning.

With the current surge of the virus in the area, SJMH is reconfirming safety precautions for visitors to the Hospital and physician offices.  If a patient has a question about the visitation policy, they can call the physician office or the Hospital at 304-269-8000. All staff members, patients and visitors must pass a screening at the entrance and wear a mask while at SJMH. If a patient fails screening at the Hospital, he/she will still be treated in the ED.

According to the visitors’ policy, in the Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit, a support person is allowed only under certain circumstances. For patients on the Medical/Surgical Unit or in the Special Delivery Unit, one visitor, who is the same person for the entire stay, is allowed. One support person is allowed for surgical patients, and that person should wait in the designated area as instructed by staff. A support person is defined as person who helps patients who require additional assistance with their care.

In other departments such as laboratory, radiology, respiratory, cardiac rehab, or physical therapy, no visitors are allowed unless the patient needs a caregiver or is a pediatric patient. Patients to the ultrasound department are allowed one visitor for the entire procedure.

To obtain medical records, patients should call 304-269-8069 for information.  Hospital vendors should have their visits prescheduled.  At this time, there are no walk-ins allowed for the SJMH cafeteria.

In physician offices, there are no visitors allowed unless the patient is a minor, or needs assistance; patients must wear masks and maintain the six-foot distance, and should not enter the office more than five minutes before their appointment.  All patients and visitors must pass a screening at the entrance.
