Community meeting on proposed lodge development within the Beech Fork Dam and Recreation Area

LAVALETTE. W.Va. — A community meeting to obtain public comments concerning a feasibility assessment for a proposed 75-room lodge and conference center near the Beech Fork Dam and Recreation Area near Huntington is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Lavalette Elementary School cafeteria from 6 to 7 p.m.

CHM Government Services, a national hospitality and recreational consulting firm, has been contracted to assist West Virginia State Parks with the assessment that includes evaluation of market, financial and feasibility investment analysis.

“Public participation is a key requirement of the analysis. CHM Government Services and West Virginia State Parks are interested in hearing from citizens, civic and social groups, businesses, local government officials and volunteers to learn their interests and ideas,” said Brad Reed, deputy chief of West Virginia State Parks. “The team particularly wants to learn what programs and activities could occur and how groups or businesses would support the proposed facilities.”

The meeting agenda includes an overview of the project and an opportunity for public comment and feedback.
