Community invited to run with local soldiers in the upcoming Citizen Soldier 5K

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County community is gearing up for a unique fitness event, the Citizen Soldier 5K Run/Walk, where locals have the chance to compete against local citizen soldiers. The event will be held on Saturday, June 17, on the scenic Buckhannon River Walk.

Check-in commences at 9 a.m. and the race will officially begin at 10 a.m. All ages are encouraged to participate, with special medals to be awarded to the top three finishers in women, men, youth (ages 13-17), and children (ages 5-12) categories.

Participants can look forward to refreshments, snacks, and the camaraderie of running alongside local military members. To make things even more exciting, the first 50 individuals to register will receive a free commemorative T-shirt.

Registration fees are set at $20 for adults and $15 for youth aged 5-17. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting local soldiers.

Interested individuals are urged to complete their registration soon via the following link: https://forms.gle/JVcLWG83FVqRC4ku8. Please note that registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Come join in the fun, show support for local troops and see if you have what it takes to beat our citizen soldiers!
