Community Care, St. Joseph’s Hospital to host ‘Bringing Back Hope’ presentation on substance abuse March 11

BUCKHANNON — Community Care of West Virginia and WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital are co-hosting the “Bringing Back Hope” presentation on substance abuse. 

The event is free and open to the public and will be held on Friday, March 10th at 6:00 pm at West Virginia Wesleyan’s College Performing Arts Center in Buckhannon and on Saturday, March 11th at 1:00 pm at the Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins.

The main speaker for the event is David Taylor. Taylor is a certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist and was previously a police officer and correctional officer at a maximum-security juvenile center where he was later promoted to correctional counselor. He has had his own experience with addiction and is currently employed by the Harmony Ridge Recovery Center as a Business Development Specialist.

Leah Mullens and Judy Utley, Peer Recovery Support Specialists with Community Care of West Virginia and Shelby Wilson, Opioid Coordinator for WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital, will also be presenting.
