CEC wins 2022 Upshur County Summer Basketball League championship

TENNERTON – The Upshur County Summer Basketball League has a new champion after CEC downed defending champion Ralph’s Furniture by a 78-53 score Tuesday night.

CEC raced out to a 42-23 lead at the half and never looked back in the second half for their 25-point victory. Dawson Lilly led CEC with 17 points while Praise Chukwudozie added 15. Drew Pingley scored a game-high 20 points for Ralph’s Furniture.

The two teams advanced to the league’s title game earlier in the night winning their respective divisions.

In Division 1, Ralph’s Furniture edged out Pre Played Media by a 74-68 score. Carl Buck had 27 points in the winning effort for Ralph’s Furniture while Rye Gadd had a game-high 31 points for Pre Played Media.

In the Division 2 final, CEC downed previously unbeaten On Point Athletics by a 67-52 score. Chukwudozie paced CEC with 17 points while Lamar Hurst tallied 19 points for On Point Athletics.

The championship game wrapped up the 2022 season for the Upshur County Summer Basketball League.
