Carlos Ramirez

Taylor Hospitality recently announced the promotion of Carlos Ramirez to Executive Chef for Oxley House Cocktail Bar and Restaurant, located within the Tygart Hotel in Elkins. Ramirez’s culinary expertise and dedication align with the vision for the restaurant and cocktail bar.

Carlos Ramirez’s culinary journey began with Taylor Hospitality’s parent company at a country club, where he started as a prep staff member. His passion for food and beverage soon led him to rise through the ranks, from line cook to Sous Chef, and now to Executive Chef. Hailing from Marshall, Virginia, Ramirez brings a wealth of culinary creativity and passion to his dishes. His character and commitment to excellence identified him as an ideal candidate for the Oxley House team, prompting him to relocate to Elkins to be part of this venture.

“I’m excited to take on the role of Executive Chef,” Ramirez said. “With this promotion, I’m looking forward to the challenges and I have an awesome new team in place and know we will be able to really showcase the restaurant. My goal is to highlight the amazing local product that is available to us while staying true to the Appalachian cuisine.”

Ramirez has been serving as the Sous Chef at Oxley House since its opening in April of this year. He is eager to showcase his unique skills and creativity in his new role. As part of his promotion, a new libation and cuisine menu launch is set for Thursday, September 12. Chef Ramirez has collaborated closely with the new culinary team to introduce a fresh twist to the restaurant, offering a wider range of Appalachian-inspired culinary delights, featuring fresh ingredients from local farms like The Charm Farm and Highland Fungi.

Furthermore, Chef Ramirez will continue to host the “Cuisine Around the World” culinary wine and dinner series. This exclusive event takes place on the last Monday of each month, offering food enthusiasts a chance to indulge in a six-course meal paired with wines from various countries and regions. The private dining experience promises to transport guests on a global gastronomic journey.

Shane Jones, General Manager of the Oxley House Cocktail Bar and Restaurant and Tygart Hotel, expressed his enthusiasm for Ramirez’s promotion. “We are thrilled to have Carlos lead our culinary team at Oxley House. His talent and dedication to creating exceptional dining experiences will undoubtedly elevate our guests’ satisfaction.”

Taylor Hospitality is proud to bring a fresh dynamic and culinary team to the Oxley House Cocktail Bar and Restaurant in downtown Elkins.
