Bucs, Lady Bucs begin soccer sectional play on Tuesday

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Bucs and Lady Bucs will begin section tournament play on Tuesday.

The Lady Bucs (11-5-4),the top seed, will host No. 4 Preston (3-17) at 5:30 p.m.

The other sectional game will feature No. 3 University (7-10-2) playing at No.2 Bridgeport (10-5-5) at 6 p.m.

The Lady Bucs earned the top seed with a 2-0-1 record in sectional play, winning the tiebreaker (goal differential) against Bridgeport, who also sported a 2-0-1 sectional record.

University went 1-2 in sectional play while Preston was 0-3.

The Lady Bucs defeated Preston 3-0 in the regular season.

For the boys, the Bucs (6-11-3) finished as the third seed with a 1-1-1 sectional mark.

They will play second seed Bridgeport (11-6-3) in Bridgeport, who also posted a 1-1-1 sectional record but won the tiebreaker (goal differential) against the Bucs.

The two teams fought to a a 1-1 tie back on Oct. 3 in Tennerton.

The other sectional game will be No. 4 Preston 4-13-3 going on the road to face No. 1 University (10-8-1).

For both the boys and the girls, the two winners will meet on Thursday at the highest seed remaining.
