Buckhannon-Upshur High School student killed in wreck Sunday evening

A student at Buckhannon-Upshur High School was killed in a single vehicle accident near Queens Sunday evening.

Sr. Trooper P.J. Robinette said Jenna Davis, 16, died after the car she was driving wrecked on Cutright Chapel Run at 7:19 p.m. Sunday night.

According to Robinette, the vehicle went off the right side of the road and flipped multiple times. The two other occupants in the vehicle, also juveniles, suffered minor injuries, the trooper said. One had a broken arm.

Cutright Chapel Run is located off the Tallmansville Road in Queens.

Upshur County Schools superintendent Dr. Sara Lewis-Stankus said counseling services are being offered to students at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. School in Upshur County is in session Monday despite the Columbus Day holiday.

“There are no words to comfort when a young beautiful life is gone from this world far too soon,” Stankus said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family.”

According to an email from the board office, “The South Buckhannon Mission Church will open their doors [Monday] evening at 7 p.m. for a time of remembrance and prayer as we share the loss of a beautiful young soul.”
