Buckhannon-Upshur Camera Club participates in the Maple Syrup Festival, Tucker wins People’s Choice

Maple Syrup Festival People's Choice photo by Al Tucker of Buckhannon

The Buckhannon-Upshur Camera Club was pleased to participate in the annual Maple Syrup Festival held in Pickens. Twenty club photographers displayed 115 photos to the multitude of guests who attended the festival. Event chairpersons Gary McCoy, Anthony Ovies and Dawn Ovies and club members wish to thank the festival committee and all the wonderful folks from near and far who toured the exhibit.

Well over 500 ballots were cast for the People’s Choice ribbon, which was awarded to Al Tucker of Buckhannon. Tucker’s photo, “Contemplation,” grabbed the attention of festival attendees. Other favorites were Karl Boone’s “Babcock in Winter” and “Snowy Barn” and Wendy Park’s “Hawk in Flight.”

This was an enjoyable even,t and club members hope to see several of our visitors there again next year. Many thanks to folks who purchased photographs and, in doing so, supported our local amateur photographers. BUCC thanks the Pickens Fire Department for the use of their facility.

The Buckhannon-Upshur Camera Club meets on the fourth Thursday evening of each month at the Idea Center near the post office. We welcome new members and guests! The next photography exhibit sponsored by the club will be at the West Virginia Strawberry Festival in Buckhannon in mid-May.

For more information on how the general public can participate in that upcoming exhibit, check out the festival website at www.wvstrawberryfestival.com. Details can also be found on the Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club Facebook group under the files tab. The deadline for entries is May 2.
