Probationary firefighter Lyndon Reinking receives his badge from his wife, Brittany, after mayor Robbie Skinner administered the firefighter oath.

BUCKHANNON – Probationary firefighter Lyndon Reinking was welcomed by fellow Buckhannon firefighters, family, friends and community members as he took his official oath Thursday during the Buckhannon City Council meeting.

Buckhannon Mayor Robbie Skinner administered the firefighter’s oath while Reinking’s wife, Brittany, pinned his badge on her husband. During the meeting, Buckhannon City Fire Chief JB Kimble said it was a great night to celebrate being fully staffed once again.

“Tonight, Lyndon is taking his oath to provide service to our community and our county and everywhere we go,” Kimble said.

In the official oath, Reinking agreed his “fundamental duty is to serve the people and to protect, to safeguard and preserve life, health and property against fire and other perils, and to maintain a proficiency and professionalism in the fire service.”

Skinner said the city was thrilled to have Reinking as a member of the paid staff of the Buckhannon Fire Department.

“We wish you well,” Skinner said.
