Buckhannon celebrates community spirit at Spring 2025 Really Really Free Market and Potluck

Buckhannon residents gathered for the Spring 2025 Really Really Free Market and potluck, sharing food, goods, and services at no cost to promote community connection, generosity, and mutual aid.

The Buckhannon community came together today for the Spring 2025 edition of the Really Really Free Market (RRFM) and Community Potluck, fostering a spirit of generosity, mutual aid, and connection.

Held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in a beautiful grassy area located at the corner of Walnut and Chestnut Streets, the event invited residents to share goods, services, and food—entirely free of charge. Participants offered a variety of items, including clean clothing, blankets, hygiene products, and homemade dishes.

The event began with a community potluck at 1:00 PM, where attendees shared food and non-alcoholic beverages. Local meal program Free Meals Appalachia generously provided plates, cups, napkins, and utensils for the gathering.

A first time attendee, Casey H, commented, “It warms my heart to see neighbors gather together and share what they have without the exchange of money. It reminded me how strong our community can be when we focus on care and cooperation. My favorite part was chair yoga in the beautiful spring weather!”

The RRFM emphasizes that everyone has something valuable to contribute, whether it’s a tangible item, a skill, or simply a conversation. The event serves as a platform for neighbors to connect, support one another, and build a more resilient community.

Organizers express their gratitude to all who participated and contributed to the event’s success. Plans are already underway for the next RRFM, with dates and details to be announced at a later date.
