Board of Education invites questions from the public ahead of superintendent forum

Editor’s note: The following is a letter from the Upshur County Board of Education to the Buckhannon-Upshur community.

Dear Upshur County Citizens and Community Organizations,

The Upshur County Board of Education will soon hire a new Superintendent of Schools. As part of the search and interview process, we are asking for your input. You may submit an interview question(s) that demonstrates any topic of interest related to education. Please note that it will not be possible to utilize every submitted question in the forum.

Please email your question to Board President Dr. Tammy Samples at tjsamplesboe@gmail.com on or before May 1, 2023.

In addition, we also invite you to attend a Community Forum with our finalists on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Culpepper Auditorium at the Performing Arts Center on the Campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Each candidate will provide a brief introduction. They will then answer questions submitted by community members, Board Members, or the BUHS Youth Leadership Association.

We are grateful for your involvement in this superintendent search process. We look forward to receiving your interview question and seeing you at the upcoming Community Forum.

A 59-year-old Volga man was arrested after allegedly threatening a deputy during processing at the Upshur County Courthouse following a DUI stop. He faces charges including DUI, possession of marijuana and retaliation against a public official; bail is $19,500.
