BCHA, community join Philippi Wellness Center for ribbon cutting ceremony

PHILIPPI — Barbour Community Health Association team and community leaders joined together for the grand opening of Philippi Wellness Center.

The 900 square-foot facility, located in the rear of the Barbour Chiropractic Center building, provides basic wellness and preventative services to area citizens, with opportunities for indoor cardio (heart, lung, circulatory system) exercise and strength training.

A variety of exercise equipment is available to members, as well as periodic seminars, classes, and workshops on topics like diet, exercise and stress. The Center will soon begin to offer Silver Sneakers Classic, Yoga (seated and standing), as well as other aerobic dance and step workouts. Exercise classes are included in membership packages and will cost non-members $5 to join the class.

Philippi Wellness Center offers one year, six month, and three month membership plans. Membership plans are broken down for seniors, students, individuals, couples, local fire department members, family packages and more. School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital
