BUCKHANNON — The visiting St. Augustine’s University Falcons blew open its game with West Virginia Wesleyan College in the fourth quarter to beat the Lady Bobcats 76-69 Saturday in Rockefeller Center.
A steady Wesleyan offense through the first half led to a comfortable 39-27 lead that slowly came apart in the third quarter. The Falcons’ aggressive play culminated in 21 turnovers that led to 25 points. Quality bench play kept fresh legs on the floor for St. Augustine which contributed to a fourth-quarter 30-11 point advantage.
Game leaders for the Falcons included Janiya Reed with 21 points and four of the team’s 16 steals, and Lauren Banks who scored 17 points and added three steals.
The Lady Bobcats were led by Emma Witt with 24 points, six rebounds and three assists. Courtney Wilfong contributed 10 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
Wesleyan goes on the road to West Liberty University for a MEC match up on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
