B-U’s Abel, Lahman earn All-State basketball honors

TENNERTON – Two Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc basketball players were named to the 2023-24 West Virginia Class AAAA All-State Team as voted on by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Alyssa Abel and Casadie Lahman were both named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Abel, a junior forward, led the Lady Bucs in scoring this past season, averaging 10.0 points per game. She also paced the Lady Bucs in rebounding with 6.6 per contest and led the team in blocks with 12.

Lahman, a senior guard, was third on the team in scoring with 7.8 points per game. She led the team in assists with 4.6 per game while being second on the team in rebounding with 5.9 per game.

Alexis Bordas of the Class AAAA champion Wheeling Park Patriots was named the First Team captain.

Bordas averaged 23.7 points per game while contributing 5.7 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game.

Morgantown’s Sofia Wassick was named captain of the Second Team.
