Artistry on Main to offer several live streaming events via Facebook

Artistry on Main is always looking for ways to help those in our art community. Realizing that times have been hard for our performing artist during this time of Covid, they have partnered with The National Endowment for the Arts and The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History to bring to you several live events streaming on Facebook.

You can access these event by tuning in to the Artistry on Main Facebook page and sign up for the events so you are notified when they go live.

First up on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m., will be Sara Golden and her ‘Let the Creativity Flow’ – an hour long session exploring the mind of Sara as she shares her work and readings with you on how to be creative.

On Feb. 11 at 6 p.m., they bring you a live concert.

The Crooked Roots are a West Virginia-based rock and roll quartet, featuring Jane Lew’s Josh Folmsbee on guitar and vocals. The ‘Roots’ are Bob Blanchard on drums, Brian Cross on bass guitar, and Warren ‘Killer’ Keller on woodwinds. Prior to the pandemic, ‘TCR’ could be found playing venues around the state two to three times a week, and occasionally in nearby, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Additionally, Josh was a favorite solo act at microbreweries and wineries. The group released their debut EP in 2019, featuring four original songs by Josh. In addition to their original material, the group is well-known for their unique, extended ‘jam band’ takes on cover material by artists as diverse as Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, and Pink Floyd.

The combination of Josh’s rock, country, and rap influences, Keller’s funky, urban saxophone, Blanchard’s hard hitting drums, and Cross’s heavy metal roots, make for a very different and exciting mix. This will be professionally recorded, you won’t want to miss it.

Sara joins us again for her second show on Saturday Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. called, ‘Looking At Life: Improved Perspective’ — change the way you perceive daily struggles. During this tough time of social distancing, we could all benefit from this.

Also going to be offered and posted on our YouTube channel will be a series of six half hour shows exploring what it was like to be a rural doctor in the early part of last century.

These will be true life stories of Dr. Greenbrier Almond and his father and will be read by West Virginias Teacher of the year Erin Anderson and made available to any school in W.Va. We will let everyone know when these are up! So please enjoy these events coming your way and please support all our artist through this time!
