ART26201 to unveil ‘sail fence’ public sculpture on Saturday, June 29

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Celebrate art in Buckhannon as ART26201 unveils its largest public sculpture to date on Saturday, June 29 at 5 p.m.

The “SAIL FENCE” is a 12-foot tall and 60-foot long fence of painted fabric panels that will be installed in the Trader’s Alley Arts District, across from Almost Heaven Crossfit.  It will feature colorful, festive, gently-moving canvas panels inspired by the sails of a ship.

The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.  Refreshments will be served.

The City of Buckhannon, in partnership with ART26201, is dedicated to the continued development of the Traders Alley Arts District, and the SAIL FENCE will be a centerpiece of the pedestrian-friendly area.

The unveiling of this latest artwork will be held before a 7:30 p.m. screening of the film WALKING ON WATER at Lascaux Micro-Theater.  WALKING ON WATER is an in-depth look into the artistic process and personal relationships of Christo, an artist known around the globe for his large-scale fabric installations.

ART26201 is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “celebrate and promote the creative and inspirational opportunities in the Buckhannon community.”  For more information about ART26201, and for ways to support their projects, email info@ART26201.com or visit the website at www.ART26201.com.
