Arson at West Virginia Wesleyan College campus center is latest suspicious Buckhannon fire

Ali Rezai, M.D., executive chair of WVU’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, has been named West Virginia University’s 2026 Big 12 Faculty of the Year.

WVDOH accepted bids Feb. 10 and 12 for 24 construction projects, including repaving I-79 from Charleston to Big Chimney. The 2026 focus is maintaining existing infrastructure and improving interstates so more than 70% rate in good condition.

Buckhannon-Upshur High School has released its second quarter honor roll for the 2025-26 school year. Students with a 4.0+ GPA earned Distinguished Honor Roll honors, while those with a 3.5–3.99 GPA made the Honor Roll.

Vandalia Health welcomes Shayla Koerner, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician and former WVU chief resident, to Davis Medical Center Primary Care in Elkins.

Community Care of West Virginia expects to break ground in late May on a new four-story building in Buckhannon. The project, slated to take about two years, will bring pediatrics, primary care, behavioral health and community conference space under one roof.
