American Legion Post 7 to host VA assistance day in Buckhannon

Buckhannon’s American Legion Post 7 will host a VA assistance day on January 9 at the post home located next to the old Kanawha Theater, 16 S. Kanawha St., Buckhannon.

A VA Certified Service Officer will be available for all veterans and their surviving spouses to file claims or get answers to questions about VA Benefits. Those interested in meeting with the Service Officer should call 304-460-7377 to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be assigned at a later date. For those wanting to file a VA claim but have not started the process, assistance with the initial step is available any weekday morning at the post.

This service is free and will take place on January 9, with the first appointment at 10 a.m. The Service Officer will be present for several hours, so it is advisable to request an appointment soon. If there is no answer at the provided number, callers are encouraged to leave a message and will receive a return call.

This initiative is part of Post 7’s ongoing efforts to support area veterans and their families in obtaining the VA Benefits they have earned. In the past 22 months, Post 7 has assisted nearly 200 local veterans and their spouses in filing the necessary paperwork. Post 7 remains dedicated to serving the community, with a special emphasis on veterans and their families.
