WVWC announces in-person Homecoming Weekend, Founder’s Day festivities set for October 8-10

Buckhannon, W.Va. – This week, West Virginia Wesleyan College announced Homecoming 2021 will be held October 8-10, 2021 on its Buckhannon-based campus. This will be the first in-person event for alumni and the broader Wesleyan community since the COVID-19 health pandemic shut down campus activities and events last March. Homecoming 2021 will coincide with the College’s 131st Founder’s Day Convocation, which will be held on Friday, October 8 at Wesley Chapel.

“We are excited to welcome Wesleyan alumni and friends back to campus to connect with their Bobcat family,” said Talley Sergent, WVWC’s Chief Development and Marketing Officer. “Homecoming 2021 will celebrate many classes, with a special nod to the Classes of 2020 and 2021.”

While Homecoming will be in-person, there will be an emphasis on more outdoor activities and events as a precautionary measure. While this announcement is timed with the Mountain East Conference’s Fall 2021 Football schedule, other WVWC Homecoming events will be announced at a later date. Wesleyan is slated to play West Virginia State University on Saturday, October 9, at Cebe Ross Field in Buckhannon.

“Homecoming may look and feel a little different due to public health guidelines, but it will stay true to our foundational commitment to ignite that strong connection between our alumni and West Virginia Wesleyan College,” Sergent said.

Each year, WVWC celebrates anniversary classes and this Homecoming, the College will celebrate 26 classes of alumni to make up for last year’s missed festivities. The following classes will be celebrated: 1955, 1956, 1960, 1961, 1965, 1966, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1985, 1986, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2016.

Homecoming is subject to change based on public health guidelines and regulations.
